Update: I went ahead and ordered a 13mm shallow (Gearwrench 80207) off of eBay. It fits perfectly in the box. I was also able to squeeze a 1/4 swivel adapter. With those two additional items (and the mid length extension) I already added the kit is perfect. The only one that is a tight fit is the swivel. Honestly if the price is right and you want a small set for your road trip bag and you don't mind an extra 5 or so for a single socket it's a great set.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I would easily give this set 5 stars except half the time when I go to use it I have to say ARGGHHH! why would they not include the 13mm shallow. In case you don't pay close attention while the deep goes all the way to 14 without skips, the shallow only goes to 12mm without skips. Every time I pick up this set and realize i need a 13mm I have to hope that I have enough space or else I will have to grab a wrench instead. I would gladly give up one or 2 of the smaller sockets in either shallow or deep or even the 14mm deep in order to go all the way to 13 in shallow. The sockets themselves are great, and like them better than most any of the others chrome sockets I have (Tekton, Craftsman (old and new, don't bother with the new), Proto, Williams, Crescent, Harbor Freight) and nearly as well as the Snap-on. The relieved corners on the inside, dished opening, the tapered body on the smaller ones, the knurled lines on the metric and big easy to read sizes. The sockets fit great on all my ratchets and extensions and I even like the fact that the opening on the deep sockets is only broached part way in so you can use them to spin the nut on even when you are using a deep socket. I thought that might get annoying but I rarely if ever have a nut part way down a fastener where I want it to float in the middle of the socket, that is mostly just what happens with other sockets. The bolt passes right through the rest of the hollow center so it works like you would expect it to.I picked up this set for the box since I wanted to have both shallow and deep metric sockets in my truck and I have a 1/2 set I keep in my cordless impact bag that picks up on the big end. The box is super small for all the sockets it holds and fits in my tool bag perfectly. The spinner handle is one of the better ones I have that don't have a pass through extension at the end of the handle (although if gearwrench were to adopt that they could almost eliminate the long extension) it has great grip and feels good in the hand. I love the feel on the extensions they include but find a need for a mid sized extension often so I put a Tekton extension in the box it sits right on top of the chrome shaft of the spinner handle.I knew going in that the ratchet included is the smaller 80 tooth instead of the long one shown and I don't mind that at all it feels great, its probably the best of the small 1/4 ratchets I have. It feels sturdy and its super low profile and works great in small places. The extra space at the end of the handle in the box seems a waste, perhaps they could re-work the box to include, say, a 13mm shallow. If I can pick one up I will add one and just store it in the box, it actually would fit at the end of the handle slot, it just irks me enough that I always find a need for a 13mm that I can't give the set 5 stars. Almost, but not quite. The 22 piece ratchet and socket set is well made but i think its overpriced just because it says GW. I have other tools from GW and they do make great quality tools. This set is absolutely NOT for mechanics. Period! I for the life of me can't understand why gearwrench would make deep well sockets NOT deep. They actually have the 12 point grooves only going 1/4 of the depth of the socket itself. Check the pictures I included. This is my second attempt to like gearwrench but they have failed both times. First their ratchet screwdriver set has the adjustment slider going the wrong way. Meaning if your tightening a screw the slider is to the left so you will accidentally slide it to the lock position. Soooo frustrating and sooo stupid. I'm a 20+ year aircraft technician and gave gearwrench an honest try. But I cant recommend them till they pull their head out of you know where.Really nice 1/4” drive set. Has all the sizes you could ask for and the fit and finish is nice. The ratchet is pretty finely geared and the box is great. I use this for most of my hex bolt work around our building. 1/4” is easier to work with in tight places and if I need to break something loose or really crank it down I use a box end wrench or a Knipex Pliers wrench. I got into Gearwrench a few years back with their ratchet wrenches and have enjoyed the brand ever since. They fit and work well. They last and they are cost effective. Very comprehensive set. Fine tooth ratchets are very smooth . Unfortunately the 3/16" deep socket is rusty inside. All other items are beuatifully fininshed. Direct contact with Gearwrench was not replied to. Would recommend on the basis of the quality of all the items except the supplied 3/16" deep socket.Blown away by the quality of this set. I have been a heavy diesel slash car mechanic since 1966 and have almost every tool ever made. Presently I am a locomotive mechanic and got tired of replacing small ratchets that lock up. I have owned snap on, proto, craftsman, husky, SK,Stanley and just about every other manufacturer out there. This set blows away the competition to the point that they are no competition! Will definitely recommend and purchase their other products!Like most Gearwrench products, this is remarkably nice. I've been a fan of Gearwrench for quite some time - with the decline of Sears Gearwrench has more or less become my go-to brand in lieu of Craftsman. I'm no pro, but I'm a pretty heavy DIYer - always got something coming apart or going back together - and even this little set keeps up. I bought it primarily to replace some lost 1/4" deep sockets, but as it turns out the ratchet is very nice and it's the one I find myself using most frequently. For the price, I couldn't be happier. This is one of the best ratchet in the world, contains 84 tooth.is amazing, indistructible, and the price is very good. simply the best really. This socket set seems quite nice. I paid $59 for it, and at the time of writing it's listed on Amazon at $76. It includes quite a good range of socket sizes, so if you have this and a 3/8 drive socket set, you'll probably have almost everything you'll run into covered. The chrome quality on this set doesn't seem to be quite on par with the GearWrench 3/8 drive socket set I got, as it seems a little flaky on the bottoms of some of the sockets. The sockets themselves seem quite good apart from this, and I've used them to work on airplanes and was quite happy with them. I sold the deep sockets and the ratchet that came with this set to a friend and replaced both with the Snap on equivalents, as Snap on's deep sockets have very thin walls which can get them into tight places. The deep sockets that came with this set had quite thin walls as well, but not as thin. The ratchet that came with this set was also quite nice, and it actually had more teeth and a longer handle than my Snap on ratchet. If you're a DIYer, this ratchet will probably be just fine for you. If you're a professional, you may want to upgrade it eventually. Some additions you may want to make to your 1/4 drive collection after getting this set would be a 12 inch wobble extension for very tricky places, a flex head and/or long handle ratchet, and maybe a converter to allow you to use 3/8 inch drive sockets with this set.The screwdriver or spinner style handle that comes with this set is pretty comfortable to use and may be handy for getting into places the ratchet won't easily reach.Another final tip I have is that this set comes with the socket sizes printed on the case in raised digits. They're not very easy to read, though, because they're the same color as the rest of the case. I painted mine white using a paint marker and as you can see in the photo, they're much easier to read now.Absolutely great kit, a bunch of guys I work with have the kit as well. I use it everyday working on aircraft. I recommend use some paint pen to mark over the numbers so they are easier to see quickly. I swapped out the SAE sockets with my snap on I had previously but use the gearwrench as my home set.Super nice for when going into the field. All my 1/4 in once spot and I found that a 3-4 inch extension as well as all my adapters fit well between the short sockets.Am a huge fan of the ratchet included and will be buying a 3/8th drive from gearwrench as well down the road. I pick up the snap on one every time the truck comes by but I can't justify the extra cost.Good quality tools. I’m in the aircraft maintenance field and we use the “higher brand” stuff, but find this just as good. Thin walled sockets and great ratchet.Durable - Packaged nicely - Great value, cannot find a similarly priced 12 pt socket set around. Aircraft mechanic, these sockets take a beating every day and have been holding up nicely. The ratchets are of O.K. quality, I replaced with snap on. However sockets are perfect. Nice case to have them in as well. Would recommend to other aircraft mechanics who cant afford snap on.
